A conversation with my dad
by magotan ini talked to my dad today, after i text him when i was angry after a night out.
i'm starting to get closure on my parents relationship with regards to me.the dynamic between them versus me is abusive.
my dad didn't think i had any reason to be bitter.he said i chose to leave "jehovahs people" and this is what i should expect as treatment.

Tell him that one day you hope have children, his grand children and they will have nothing to do with him. A reverse shun. Ask him how that will feel? Abusive? -

JW Expressions We Hate
by Socrateswannabe ini was browsing through stuff on jw.org recently and ran across some expressions that really grate on my nerves: loyal love, loving-care, and loving-kindness, as in: "please exercise loving-kindness toward your servant.
" who talks like that?
they must be relics of the fred franz era.

How has Jehovah "blessed" you?

The GB know it's all lies and wants to dismantle the WTS ... then what?
by Simon inso imagine the gb have a sudden attack of honesty and realize "crap, this whole thing is lies - we're not god's spokespeople at all !".
how do you dismantle a religion that has +8 million members in a responsible way?
you can't just publish a watchtower saying "we were wrong" because that would be irresponsible - you need to let people down gently, put people off gradually.

Not one person, or a group of people, or even a hundred people at the top can stop it.
Follow the money. They only thing that could even slow it down is the complete lack of it.
With billion coming their way with the sell off of Brooklyn that not going to happen anytime soon.
Look at the catholic faith. If the leaders all denounced the faith they might lose a million or two but it would just keep going.
People just don't want to believe that something they have invested 30, 40 or even 50 years of their lives in could possibly be wrong.
There only thing that could stop it and all religions!
If little green aliens came down and told us the true history of this planet and that all religions are bull shit. Then religion would start it's SLOW (taking hundreds of years) descent in to nonexistence.

When you Go to Bethel, You Sign Over Your Dead Body.
by new boy inthis is in response to the thread about the supposed suicide of a bethelite in 1995.. when i went to bethel i and everyone else, signed a form stating that "if we died while at bethel the wathtower bible and tract society, had the right to keep our body.".
yes, we thought it strange at the time but as a twenty years old you didn't think much about stuff like that.
besides we were never going to die anyway.

Jeff who studied with James before he went to Bethel, told me that James got no grave stone or maker,
They said that Jah would remember him and that's all that matters.

Yes, we thought it strange at the time but as a twenty years old you didn't think much about stuff like that. Besides we were never going to die anyway. 1975 was coming.
I know of two brothers who killed themselfs while at Bethel and two others who tried end their lives. My guess is people have been killing themselfs at Bethel long before I ever got there.
James Olsen killed himself in 1973. They kept his body and it's buried someplace in upstate New York.
So why would the society be so interested in our dead bodies?
Do they want to deal with the extra expense to bury the bodies? No, doesn't sound like them.
Do they want to grind the bodies up and use them for fertilizer. No
But really why?
My guess is legal issues. If someone could prove wrongful death. There could be a lawsuit. We all know how much they like them.
Now, the "form" signing your body over makes perfect sense.
The good Doctor there would sign the death certificate. He state the cause of death and the body is kept.
Other wise why have such a form?
Your thoughts?

JW's Funerals, Forget About The Person! Let's Preach.
by new boy ingod forbid you would talk about the dead person at his funeral.
so what do most people get after living 70-80 years?.
a 5-10 minutes eulogy.

So what do most people get after living 70-80 years?
A 5-10 minutes eulogy. Then the transition statment is "Let me tell you about what Fred REALLY believed in."
The start off in Genesis and end up in Revelation. 45 minutes later your walking away thinking. That's they have to say about poor old Fred's life.
The good new is the speaker gets to can count his time.
As we all know people in the organization are unimportant living or DEAD.

"If I wasn't born a JW, I would never have become one."
by OneEyedJoe ini've seen it mentioned by a few on the forum that at some point there was a realization that had they not been born a jw, they never would've converted no matter how many times the jws tried to study with them.
this was my experience too, and i'm wondering how universal it is for those that were born-in but eventually left.
i think i started having this thought (more specifically that if i were not born a jw, i would surely have become an atheist by now) in my late teens.

It's true!
Nothing makes more JWS than JWs having sex with other JWS! Now take it one step further.
I guessing that 2/3 of all JWs "born" stay in (put in whatever percentage you like) , So if you are born in you have over a 60% of surviving gods day of wrath.
However since there are 7. 4 million JWs and 7.4 billion worldly people what are your odds?..
So if you were not "born in" you have only 1 in a 1000 change of making it! So why did he give you a better chance of avoiding his rage than the worldly guy?

How do I handle this situation?
by BarelyThere inhey everyone.
i'm sorry that this isn't a very thought provoking post but i could really use some advice on how to handle this.
there isn't anyone else in my life i can ask right now because, being dfed, all of my friends are "worldly" and don't know how witnesses function.

Easy, copy and paste this conversation and send it to everyone you know, all your family and friends. Tell them that this is why you left the organization in the first place. That it wasn't the bad marriage or sex with someone else. It was the general lack of love. That you know in your heart that if you do come back you will never be treated the same, which is true and these comments proves it.
You're screwed if you go back and yes
You're screed if you leave.....the only difference between the two after you leave it does get better after awhile. However if you go back it will only get worse as time goes by.
